In the above picture one has a good overview of how the engine works. The left piston is on its way to BDC, the right one, after TDC. On the left, air is taken in (yellow), on the right it is exhaused (blue). The respective valve position is appropriate. One of the intake ports, (yellow) in the center between the two cylinders and the two outlet ports exhausting to the front and rear, (blue) can be clearly seen. The operation of the valves, through adjustable rocker arms and pushrods can also easily be seen.Further on, in the direction of the crankshaft, the threading for the spark plug surrounded by a thick wall which ends in various cooling fins. In between is the stud bolt (without the locking nut) which at the same time, holds the cylinder head and cylinder sleeve onto the crankcase. Further inwards, stud bolts also hold the two halves of the crankcase together. Here again, one nut is missing. In the crankcase, are the compact crankshaft, with basically, only three main bearings, the flywheel on the right and the V-belt pulley on the left. On the far left at the rear, finally, the very much earlier, standard fuel pump which not only functioned mechanically, but was also screw-mounted and thus repairable, e.g., when dirty.
